He – for I'm assuming only a guy would be "otaku"(nerdy obsessive) enough to acquire such a collection – has my bike, though he has added tacky silver carbon stem/bars/seast post to exaggerate the styling.

Odd that he hasn't bothered with a silver patao bottle cage instead of the clunky black one that is marring the effect.

I think you need to sit on a bike to get the right idea. i was looking around recently & really liked a Bianchi , carbon frame, full campag record etc, it was up at £5k, lovely looking machine, apparntly in my size too ie 61cm frame. I'm 6'5" with long legs...my top of saddle to pedal measurement is 41".

I found the geometry of the Bianchi frame just was not suited to me at all, I have a Trek Carbon Madone in the 62 cm frame and when you stand it next to the Bianchi you can see quite clearly how much bigger the trek is...stands taller, longer top tube. I would be so cramped on the Bianchi, typically italian, everthing they make from clothes to cars is small....so I really would struggle to recommend ordering anything mail order without sitting on one somewhere. Be aware Bianchi's feel small compared to some other makes
  • This time of year, worry less about the colour or even the model and more about what's on sale. The big chains like Evans may not give you the expert, loving service of your LBS but they sure do have some bargains at that kind of price range. My wife's Spec Dolce Elite was a year before last model when we bought it, almost half price. About the only thing different on the new models was the colour.

Obviously, ride before you buy, especially if you don't get a fitting.

Above that price range probably best looking at a specialised bike shop.

    Just my 2 cents.
  • I'd go down to your local Bianchi dealer. I got a C2C Via Nirone Alu/Carbon Ultegra 8 weeks ago (love it !) and thought that it was only available in celestial blue. So, went to the local dealer and we had a look through the catalog he had (not the public one) and it was also available in white, so thats what i went for. Took about 8 days to arrive from Italy.
    Great bit of kit....
