Afternoon all

Any bike carrier experts out there?

Im looking to buy a bike rack for the london to paris in september. Ideally i need something cheap/second hand that i can sell on after with very little loss. Basically, it needs to hold 4 bikes, be lower than 1.85m, and fit on a 2002 Mondeo without a towbar.

So far i think my only option is to get a 3 bike carrier off of Ebay, and modify to take 4 bikes (with pedals off etc to reduce size). How difficult do you think this will be?

Any other options? Anyone got one they wanna sell?

We gonna put most of our stuff in a roof box so boot access isnt massively important.

Cheers :)

    Look here-

    www.roofbox.co.uk

Even if you don't want to buy new, they are great for advice. Then you can pop over to Ebay and wait until one comes up.

It looks like im going to have to get a lighting board as well. seems like a lot of effort but i guess there is no way round it.

Ebay is maybe your best bet.

    Argos Halfrauds etc

    Cost from about £35

Ebay may cost more if you take postage in to account

Didn't the recent edition of C+ have a review of bike racks in it :?:

What do I ride? Now that's an Enigma!
  • Lighting board is a must - Halfords do a kit with no number plate if the bikes clear the number plate. I also bought a plug kit from them and had it fitted in the back of my Nissan 200SX.

I use a Hollywood Baja F2 I got from Chainreactioncycles but (esp on a coupe) I wouldn't want more than 2 bikes on it.
