Wakefield rider killed on industrial estate...looks really grim as it appears he was caught under a lorry and dragged along the ground.

...very sad.
I work near a huge Tescos depot, so I get passed by artics. daily, and I have to say the drivers are excellent. But as has been said many, many times before, never try and filter up the side of a lorry in traffic. Keep back, better to be late than taking the risk......all the way...'til the wheels fall off and burn...0 -

How the freak do you know that that is what happened? There is certainly not one shred of evidence of that from the article in the link. You should be careful about making too many assumptions when you are not in possession of the facts.

No need to jump on ChrisLS. It's good advice.
The article doesn't say what happened (police don't seem to know yet) but it does suggest that it MAY have been a HGV and the driver MAY not have seen the cyclist. Now the most common cause of such an accident where the driver doesn't see the cyclist is a cyclist filtering while the HGV is turning left.
Chris doesn't suggest that this cyclist was doing anything wrong, but his advice is on the button if you personally want to minimise your own chances of being killed by a HGV.0
