I think this one takes the biscuit

http://www.cyclingheroes.info/id776.html

I can't work out if it's serious or not.

Maybe the reasoning is if they get a PT license no-one will let them enter their PT races, and the smaller races won't be able to accept them because they need to keep the number of PT teams down.

Sponsored by Verbruggen I note. Personally I think the less he has to do with cycling the better given that he presided over the creation of the mess the sport is in today.

    Agreed.

I'm not sure who scares me more, him or McQuaid.

I can't see McQuaid approving this. There's too many ProTour teams anyway and a fully approved Unibet and a clean committed Barloworld (and possibly even Slipstream) must be ahead in the queue.

The anti-doping contract lost some credibility for me when Mancebo signed it.

"According to Süddeutsche the (official) reason that Verbruggen encouraged Relax-GAM to request a Pro-Tour license, is that there are only three Spanish Pro-Tour teams but five French teams with a Pro-Tour license."

This Relax team...takes a relaxed attitude to doping..the who's who of Operation Puerto cliets head this team. Verbruggen is well known as a rule breaker-trying to stop Graeme Obree earning a living by authorising rule making trackside without due procedure. Verbruggen shouldn't just be kept away from the sport, but should be sued by people like Mr Obree IMO

Seriously, I had to check the calendar to make sure it wasn't April the first.
