Rear Shock Advice

Hi, I have an old Saracen Raw 3 with an FDR tough coil rear shock (100mm supposed travel). I want to upgrade the shock without spending more than £100. I've looked at the Rock Shox Bar 2.1 price wise, but how do I know what is the right type of shock (is there a difference for different suspension designs, e.g single pivot or 4 bar), and what is the right configuration (the Bar 2.1 comes in 165x38 and 190x50). These probably sound like dumb questions to you guys, but all I ever do is service it.

What you need to know:
Eye to eye length
Stroke length
You may also need to know the sizes of the top and tail bushes and bolt holes. I'm not sure on this as I have never had to spec a rear shock before.
What year is the bike? If the information is not available on the internet then ring up Saracen/Saracen's importer and see if they know.0
