But for informative posts from a broad range of knowledgeable cyclists, this is probably better for you.
Maybe, I'm not making any point about the knowledge base.Community feel will come.
Again, maybe it will- but the other site offers a community that I certainly have been a member of for quite some time. It takes time for community to build. Especially as so much is happening to the forum at present.

Same as the old WMB really then, for any serious bike question it was always fozzy and sonic answering0 -
Have to disagree there, plenty of people chipped in when they could. 'sonic was never off the pc with his illness. So had plenty of time and usually got in first. Have a look at the new place, its very pleasant! Had a good forum ride at C-L and no doubt there will be more to come. People like whaat they are familiar with, I still check back here, but there's only really one thread that I'm interested in......0

I think there were some trolls aswell.....
It's a pity people haven't given this place more time they seem too upset to ride the problems out for a while and IMO the old wmb could be a little bit clicky sometimes.
There was the feeling that the old guard would turn cold shoulder for no real reason or just ignore people.
But hay, perhaps I'm too sensative .0 -
totally disagree..
WMTB forum was never cliquey!! the jokes YES but the forum and it's reaction to new members was nothing short of open arms and welcome messages.0 -
So that's how you spell cliquey, cheers fozzy.
Sorry that you disagree (but that was to be expected TBO) but that was how I found it sometimes. I found that it did feel like it kind of belonged to the members that were on the pc most of the time (nothing wrong with that) and people like myself who for one reason or another only logged on 2-3 times a were sometimes shuned a little (although I can and did read the posts at work I couldn't log on)
Yes I was made to feel welcome when I first joined and I'm very thankfull I was but I felt this dwindled quite quickly.
I hope your other forum is as welcoming and doing well developing a community.0 -
I guess everyone has their personal experiences, which will differ from someone in the same situation, but I found the wmb forum to be the most welcoming and less hierarchical I've ever seen. As soon as you move from the beginners section to the general one, you start to feel like one of the rest, and there isn't that "Bow, as I have been here for years" feeling you get with senior members in other forums. For Gods sake, you get at least 3 posts a day about Sonic being a lazy sod and Fozzy behaving romantically with his hand and being a 30yr old virgin.
I was extremely surprised at the patience of some members when asked about "which bike for jumps and drops and XC for £300, Innit?", and I don't think anyone was ever treated badly.... Come on ian, give us another chance .
As for this forum, I have given it all the chances it needs. Aked the same question here and in UK-MTB, zero answers here, a couple of pages in the other community. So much for 100k users...____________________

Wolf, don't forget all the posts referring to Fozz's 'intimate piercings' (shudder!!)
I'm taking more of a back seat with all these forums, apart from STW at present. Lets see how they evolve....0 -
Wolf and fozzy. It was just the way I felt about the WMB forum sometimes (plus I was in a bit of a grump when I wrote the post above - sorry  ).Not all the time. I had left it alone for a while (due to time constraints etc..) and decided to pop in and say hi about a week before this bikeradar thing happened and to be honest I was hoping that the more people would really open it up - not realising that people were going to leave in droves.
Both yours and Fozzy's replies are true.
I would pop in to the 'other side' but I've proberly burnt my bridges now .0 -
Ian you will still be welcome to the WMB reserve forum, just because you have a different opinion doesn't mean you would not be welcome.
I think that maybe as a occasional user of WMB you may not have felt a part of it with all the 'in' jokes and the humour of a few of the users could seem a little off putting, but once you get to know them you realise they just have a very dry sense of humour!!
I think that the WMB forum was more newbie friendly than a lot of other forums and less cliquey too, I didn't even notice that it could be portrayed as cliquey by newbies, maybe I'm blind (or even a part of it without noticing!)0 -
I could see why it was looked at as cliquey, but thats for the same reasons as above, the jokes between regulars, but I always tried to help everyone esp newbies. As I have said before, I use a multitude of fora, and dont limit my self to 'this' or 'that', I get what I can from many.0

ive tried here again and its still pretty bad aint it!! neva mind0

Its different from ukmtb, but there are a lot more questions and answers here and depth of knowledge.0
