Skinny Tyres?

Probably the most basic and stupid question ever, but here goes.
On a mountain bike with offroad tyres when riding in the wet on the road the tyres pick up the water and sling it all over the rider.
Is this reduced by fitting slicks?
The obvious answer would be 'yes of course' but i have no experience so thought i'd ask.

Riding Spesh All Conds (practically slick) I can say that, in my soggy experience, no they don't...

Beyond a certain point, it hardly matters to distinguish between getting really really really really wet (and dirty), and only getting really really wet (and dirty).

It's not a stupid question but no, you get soaked. I have a road bike with guards just for that reason but that's to protect the bike and riders behind me rather than myself!

Get some clip on guards for commuting use on road, them you can take them off when you want to look cool off road.

Just use some mud guards, if you cannot fit some, have a look at the clip on type.

You will still get wet though ;-)

Recently replaced my Continental Tourers with Specialized Nimbus Armadillos. The new front tyre seems to do a great job of lifting road water up to face height, ready for the wind to whip it onto my glasses. Other than that, a great set of slicks!

Mudguards are what you need, not a change of tyre.
