Tyre Knobs...

...I have got some Bontrager Jones Tyres that came with my new bike. The knobs have small slits across them that pick up flints and stuff(one puncture already) :? ...anyone know what the idea of these slits are :?: :?
...all the way...'til the wheels fall off and burn...

    They increase the ability of a tyre to grip by providing an extra rough edge. Sounds like they aren't ideal for your terrain though.

    :) ...thanks for the reply...yeah I think you may be right. A lot of the tracks and bridle ways I ride are vey gritty. I think a change of tyres is called for...
