these bars - http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... delID=9100

and stem - http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=12546

I'm thinking of carbon bars cos i have terrible troubke with my hands and i'm helping they ll reduce some buzz but the rest oif the bike is built for aggressive XC shall we say (cos of my weight tbh) so will these hold up OK, I don't want to go all out strength but i don't want racing snake flimsy either...

having read it again, forged and CNC macined carbon stem - thought that was metal?!

The stem is metal, with a carbon wrap.

    Actual carbon stems are ££££

Bar wise, carbon bars are very strong. However, should you scrape them badly or crash, it's new bars time. They're disposable objects.

Consider standard clamp size ea70 XC instead. Very light, very tough and enough flex to take out a little buzz. Not as much as the carbons, but certainly more resistant to clumsiness.
  • I have recently upgraded to carbon bar (Bontrager X-Lite low riser) for exactly the same reason, but I didn't bother upgrading the stem yet. I have found it has helped, and is plenty strong.

Most stems are carbon wrapped alloy, I will save up for a Bontrager full carbon stem but they are megabucks.

FSA XC-170 Stem (145g) is lighter than the carbon wrapped one! at 205g

yeah thats waht i went for...........both look pimpin as!!!!!

obviously the wired angles (compared to RF and Easton) were used by Kona on my origional handle bar as they match perfectly

they made a noticable difference too...........
