    Recent experience tells me that this is not the case. In a recent relatively low speed shunt from behind the frame on my CAAD5 was twisted 10mm out of true despite me only receiving superficial injuries. Find out from your LBS if the forks can be checked out...better safe than sorry and all that.

    thanks again for all the advice. According to my LBS both the frame and forks need replacing! And as such it is cheaper to replce the bike!!!

    A bit surprised but when the bike was shown to me and the damage pointed out I could see the problem.

    So I'm now a new bike shopper!
