Picture the scene. Tuesday afternoon. Andy 71's department is having a team building event aboard a restaurant boat moored on the Victoria Embankment. Anyway, after a more than substantial lunch, we are in the middle of an interminable mop-up session on synergistic global stakeholder partnerships or something similar. Most of us begin to lose our attention, especially given that the on-board bar beckons.

Out of the window he spys the London Eye. What's the first thing that comes into his head?

"Is that a 32 or 36 hole hub??"

...all the way...'til the wheels fall off and burn...
  • And what kind of gearing would you need to move something that size? Wonder if Compag do something that big?

I think the eye is an 80 spoke hub - where can I get one?

Well, forget Halfrauds for a start.

Action Bikes / Evans will quote you £10,000 after thumbing for several hours through one of their glossy catalogues, but it'll take 16 months to deliver.

Finally, Dial-A-Bike on Strutton Ground will only have 78's and 82's in stock but nonetheless will be able to get you an 80 for a tenner, will deliver to your door within 8 hours, send your mum some flowers and mow your front lawn/creosote your back fence.
