Enduro 06 rear sus

Hello all,
I was thinking about upgrading my rear sus in the not so distant future. I would like a coil shock and was wondering if a coil shock would actually fit the 06 enduro. Anyone know if coil would be ok? Also, where could i get one?
Thanks

You can fit a coil shock to the Enduro, but the only one that I know of that will fit will be the Fox DHX. Most current piggyback shocks will not fit due to the air valve on the end fowls the seattube tower.
You will have to get a specially adapted shock though, contact www.mojo.co.uk to discuss the options. Will also be able to provide custom tuning if you want.Shut up. And ride your bike.Originally posted by Jon

Thanks for the advice. I called mojo and had a little chat with one of the guys there. very helpfull but they are charging £299 for the shock. This includes a little big of customization so it will actually fit the frame. I didnt realise it would be that expensive, do you know of anywhere else that sell this with the customization bit?0

Can I just ask what the problem is with the current air can?0

its stuck down on me once already and i have a fear that it will happen again. A couple of my friends have coil shocks and they havent had any problems at all. Maybe its just me being paranoid! If its going to cost me £300 i will just forget that idea and maybe think about a new bike next summer.
Quick question:
I am currently using dhx3 and I have no clue what sort of air pressure needs to be put in to it. I was told for my weight and type of riding it should have about 210psi. Any idea if this is right? I mainly ride xc with a mix of some dh, drops are no higher than 4 foot. Including my camelbak/pads and stuff I weigh around 200lb.0 -
Best bet would be to either upgrade to this years dhx air 3 or get an '07 dhx air 5.</center>www.mtb-bitz.co.uk - Bitz for you & your mountain bike. pinkbike0

once it happened once it shouldnt happen again. my 06 enduro air shock was stuck down but mojo replaced the seals with 07 ones and it shouldnt happen again apparently because it was the dodgy 06 seals that causes air to leak from one chambver to the other.I said hit the brakes not the tree!!

Rather than get a whole new bike/shock I'd send yours off to Mojo to get a custom valving and a bit of love. Might cost £100 or so but its by far the cheapest option. Should transform your bike too.0

You might be able to buy a DHX coil from Specialized, though not sure it will fit, as they are designed for SX trails - would probably bugger up your geometry (Handling) on your Enduro.
Any Shock with a "piggy back" that normally has an air valve at the end of the piggy back is unlikely to fit... it will fowl that forged bit around the seat tube.
Might be worth asking them about a Vanilla Shock? Simple, but work well and are very dependable. Not really an "XC" shock though.
Basically, you're looking for a shock that:
1) Has no piggy back (chances are will mean that the damping isn't as soffisticated so would be a down grade) OR
2) Find a shock without an air valve on the end of the piggy back (Can't think of many).
The "stuck down" problem:
Basically with the DHX, you have two chambers in the air spring. Positive and Negative.
Positive is the chamber you fill when you put air in the Preload chamber (the 210psi you were on about). This chamber "inflates" the shock, trying to extend the shock. This is what works against your body weight squashing the shock totally.
Negative is the other chamber, and tries to pull the shock in all the time.
The negative has a set pressure in there that cannot be changed externally, and with these two chambers you can tune how the shock works.
What happened with these shocks is that Fox's seal supplier changed the rubber compound without informing them: this new compound could not hold the air in the separate chambers. So basically the positive pressure leaked all into the negative pressure, and you end up with a large amount of negative pressure, and the more and more you pump into the positive, it would just leak into the negative. So with this massive negative pressure you get the stuck down shockShut up. And ride your bike.Originally posted by Jon
