Edge 305 cadence sensor fault?
Did anyone with the edge 305 have a problem getting the cadence sensor to work?
I've fitted mine per instructions, the unit picks up that the sensor is fitted and I get a speed reading (not from GPS) - but no cadence. Anybody any ideas?
Edit: just found this....

Sounds like the problem I'm having. I'll have another play and let you know... because I know you all care... deeply

Just before you push the Cadence Sensor Reset Button, select the Restart Scan Button on your Settings, System, Accessories, Cadence Sensor Menu on your Edge 305. When you are paired, you will see 0 for cadence when you are not pedaling. If you continue to see 0, then your magnet is not close enough to the cadence sensor or it is not passing along the marked path identified on the sensor. The sensor light will flash red for cadence and green for speed. With cadence selected as an accessory, you will see a cadence icon at he top of your bike screen. When paired and working properly, you will see a cadence icon flash. If not working properly, you will see an "X" over the cadence icon. Again, adjust the cadence magnet, and/or the sensor.

I had an issue with my HR monitor - changed the battery and all ok. Not expensive, even if it is slightly annoying, and could probably get the place you bought it from to do it for you just so it's no skin off your nose.
Otherwise not sure - is there a troubleshooting page on the website? An MTBer, but with skinny wheel tendencies...0 -
Got it sussed now. The sensor unit needed to be closer to the pedal magnet (I'd fitted that first and then did the spoke one, I must have moved the sensor unit in the process).
The sensor unit's now fitted at a pretty jaunty angle though just to get it close enough to the pedal magnet. I do hope it stays put. I can see the spoke sensor arm fowling up in the spokes pretty easily.0 -
Ah yeah, that makes sense! Thankfully mine sits quite neatly on the chainstay with the spoke sensor tucked down against the chainstay so it stays nice and tidy.An MTBer, but with skinny wheel tendencies...0
