I'm rather intrigued by this event - maybe consider doing it (given a few years training!)

Does anyone know any detail about what bikes were ridden by the competitors last year by any remote chance?

looks like XC/long travel XC bikes were used.

then again, any type of short travel FS/HT would do the job.

Having read the article, a healthy dose of insanity and a splash of complete disregard for your own body's wellbeing is also required.

    And the winner RAN?

Nice one for that article...I'm fianlly thinking about some sort of long term plan for my life, and this looks like something I want to put in there...

Given what I know of the Nepalese via my wife who has trekked the Himalayas, its really not a surprise that a nepalese runner won it :)

to be honest though, i should imagine that its easier to run than to ride, given the amount of carrying that had to be done. deffinately something i want to do in the future.

Yeah - if you look at the Yak Attack website it lists each section, and how much of it is ride-able - some sections it's about 30%!

MBUK last month had Robs report on it (or was that the first part).. but as there is very little info about the mags on the webby you will have to take my word and brouse in WHSmiths

not really, you could get people to sponsor you, if you aim for like... £5k, you can covedr flights/ accomodation and then give the rest to charity.

To be honest, I'm not made of money, but I looked at that and thought - "that's cheap!"

It's the trip / experience of a lifetime surely...? A grand is nothing really....

(well as long as I get a few years to save up!) :D
