Wark Forest, pennine cylceway

Does anyone have any up to date info on the condition of this track on the Sustrans route 68? On the pennine cycleway website it was described as rough, needing 28mm tyres min in 2002 but I wonder if theyve upgraded it at all? ANyone any experience?

    Parts of the track are still pretty rough. I have done it twice loaded up, once with a 28mm tyred touring bike and once with 26" mtb tourer. I managed to rip the tyre wall on the 28s which lead to some aggravation as it really is very remote. However the tyres were old and perhaps I should have replaced them anyway. I met other people on similar tyres and they had no problems.

    Thanks for that, looks like I may be changing that 23 on the back sooner than id hoped!
