Levi was fined 50 CHF and penalized 5 points and 10 seconds for the bidon pull and fined an additional 50 CHF for illegal mechanical assistance.

The mechanic hung out of the window and grabbed the back of the saddle and Johan hit the gas and drove Levi back up to the group.

Nice one Levi

  • Jon Vaughters calls this the 'turbo bottle' technique. It's one of those 'professional foul' tricks where the penalty if you get caught is so much less than the benefit that it's seen to be worth risking.

The mechanic didn't even bother to make it look like he was tinkering with the bike....................just a nice long "car sling" back to the leading group. :)

    Like Bronzie said ^^^^^^^

It wasn't a " turbo bottle" it was a full blown push

everyone in the peleton uses the bottle technique to hang on for a few seconds, but this was more blatant.

There's a great sequence of turbo bottles in Overcoming. Every time Riis hands over a bottle you can hear the engine rev up. Not that he'd ever be involved in cheating....
