Where can you get these online as scoured the net for and hour and half and can only find the fancy decal ones and not the ones that prevent cables from scuffing and scratching the frame.
Thanks in advance!

I got some clear patches from this website

They seem to work well0 -
Helicopter Tape can be bought from here:

I used some of my mum's clear nail polish for scratches - it dries like cement but you can't see it's there.0

Hmm, looks good. I'll have to get some I reckon. On seccond thoughts, maybe I'll get a respray done first.
I have to say this though, Jimmyjangle..we don't have a helicopter shop in my town0 -
I work in a VW dealer and there is a clear tough acrylic sheet that is inexpensive for rear bumper protection on a VW Golf or Passat - try your local VW parts dept.
I've used it along the downtube and wear cables rub/chainstays etc.
You can cut to size and when removed it doesn't take the paint off!0 -
I use faux carbon vinyl sheet of ebay. Its pretty tough.0

That's quite expensive, bwoody. Take a look for helicopter tape on Ebay and you can get a metre for £7 - £8.

Helicopter tape is so called because it is used to protect the leading edges of rotor blades. Also great for frame protection. Make sure you buy the UV resistant variety or it will go yellow.

Specific frame patches can also be expensive for what they are. I use a couple of layers of the sticky back plastic u cover books with. U can cut it to any shape u want which is a bonus. I use it cos i found it in th house. Just look around the house for something similar rather than shelling out on expensive clear sticky back materials.

0

I have found that ordinary sticky back plastic works fine for normal frame areas (not very shiny though) but where the frame contacts the bike carrier it tends to crinkle and come off.

....ok yeah, also its not very waterproof. But i havn't paid anything for it and you get so much of the stuff on a roll. Its easy enough to replace it every 6 months or so. You get what you pay for I guess.

0
