New cassette

I've just bought new wheels for my Giant trance and was wondering which cassette to fit. I've previously been running a SRAM PG950.
Not sure whether to stick with SRAM and go for a PG970 or PG980, or change over to a shimano XT, as these are cheap on ebay at the moment.
My other components are - Raceface chainset, SRAM x9 rear mech, XT front mech and a KMC x9 gold chain.
Any advice or opinions?
cheers,
Neil.

Why not fit your old cassette?! You will probably need a new chain if you get a new cassette.0

I did think of that but after inspecting it closely it is showing signs of wear, and well... it's a good excuse to upgrade. Just not sure what to replace it with.0

I bought an XT cassette of the Woolly hat shop on ebay for £29 and got an SRAM 991 chain for £19 delivered.
XT is as light as the SRAM PG990 but can be got cheaper.XT cassette is pretty good value for money and reliable,so a no brainer for me.Thse were to replace an SRAM PG950.150g or so lighter too,so pretty cost effective weight saving upgrade,aswell.2006 Giant XTC

Well if there isn't any compatability issues with my current setup (sorry i'm a bit of a novice), I'll grab one of those XT cassettes from Ebay this evening.
Thanks for all the info!!!0 -
The SRAM one I had, shifted fine.Only discernible benefit if the weight, but never the less a 150g saving for the sake of £30 is pretty good, especially if the old ones worn anyway. Its from the wheels too,so loss of rotating mass is even better.2006 Giant XTC
