I am thinking of buying a Kona Dawg for £1200 this will be my first full sus mtb I will be using it for down hill in scotland and climbs in the lake district is this the right bike to buy .

    I'd go for the Coiler if I was doing any downhill runs. They are burly enough to take the hits but not so much that you will be totally punished on the climbs. You could probably pick up the Coiler Deluxe for £1200 if you hunt around.

    As always though, get a test ride.

  • yerr u probly could find a coiler for £1200 try looking in dealer ships at the end of septembre cos they will want to get rid of the old stock!! im thinking bout getting a coiler deluxe for similar reasons to Monky. i was talking to a guy in the kona dealer ship nd he said it is gd for climbing hills nd it can still do lots of dh trails like fort william!

    Should be fine i think (unless you are v. heavy), the coiler won't be as good on climbs.

  • I rented a Kona Dawg in Moab and did some pretty burly downhills, it coped very well. so well that I want to buy one, but I haven't got the money at the moment.
