SCR is the more upright type, all day type machines.
    TCR are racier affairs
OCR is the american version of the scr

    It is quite confusing though:

    spot the difference! :)

    No.

    Originally there was the TCR
Then came the OCR, a model down with cheaper heavier tubes
And more recently the FCR, similar but with flat bars
And the SCR, softer geometry as a 'sportive bike'

What is confusing is selling both the aluminium and carbon versions, e.g. as TCR C1 or TCR 1 : rather different bikes are very different prices

    Yes.

2007 Giant OCR is the US name for SCR, clicky linky. Previously it was different however it's true.

I have had exactly the same problem. Eventually I made up my own mind from my mountain biking experience. The SCR simply looks like a more relaxed bike. What is particularly worrying is that I got a copy of the Giant catalogue to help and it is absolutely useless. What's the point in selling entry level bikes if your catalogue doesn't explain what they are designed for.
