AVID cable brakes on my cannondale poor stoppers
The avid cable brakes on my cannondale crosser dont seem very powerful any more - I replaced the pads and sandpapered the discs (in case they were glazed) but all to no avail. Does anyone have any ideas please
I remember someone suggested new cables but they look OK - movement at the brake lever is all translated into movement of the arm on the calipers.
Bit puzzled really - only other thought is that some sort of grease or bike detergent (from washing) has contaminated the discs?
Many thanks
Simon

Strange for Avid cable brakes to lose power - might be worth checking the pads are correctly seated (I once had the experience of hearing a thump from an Avid front brake on a 40mph downhill, after which there was more play at the lever but braking was fine - my assumption is the pads weren't fully seated and the 'thump' was them popping into place).0

Get a set of decent sealed cables. Cable actuated discs will feel much better with decent, lubed cables that are sealed to prevent water and dirt ingress.
