hey guys, i just recently bought a gt avalanche 2.0 and have enjoyed riding some dirt, but i want to upgrde it. Due to only being into bikes for a few months i dont have a great expertese, so what should i upgrade to improve it. The first thing i did to it was to up grade some cuddy wella pedles to some kona jack Sh*t ones . Im thinking cranks bars anything but i was thinking the most i would spend on cranks is £60 and £200 on forks.

I think its too early to start thinking about al these upgrades, might as well have bought a better bike to start with! Would have been more cost effective. However tyres are always a good place to make improvements, some kevlar beaded ones. I would just run the rest of the components into the ground, then replace/upgrade.
  • no i ment what parts shout i think about upgrading first due to them being crap etc.

If you don't have the disc model, think about fitting a Shimano Deore Hydraulic disc to the front at some stage. This will mean a new wheel and shifter pod, so is best combined with replacing these parts, can be done cheaply if you can get second hand parts.

Forks are also a good place to target I have an Avalanche 1.0 and I've used RockShox Psylos (now Revelations) and Pace RC40s and they both work nicely with the frame.

As mentioned, tyres are also a possibilty, but unless your looking for speed, I found that the stock Tiogas are pretty decent.
  • thanks for the advise but i have the disk but mine didnt come with tiogas on it came with kenda nevagals

There arent really any parts that are bad for the money, its a good package for the price.

Take a look at the spec of the expert. Then select parts that are at least 2 levels up from that :)
