Are these WTB dual duty rims anygood ? I just bought an Ultra Galaxy (new) for £800 the frame is great and all the bits that go with it, but the wheels seem to have run out of true after a few bumps and miles on the road, is this the norm with factory built wheels......should i give them a few weeks to settle in and have them re done or are they just rubbish !! (not had 700 C wheels before, they have shim XT Hubs)........any advice !!!!!!

It's all to common. The good news is the problem comes from the build rather than the components. Either take them back to where you bought it, if you trust them, or take them to a respected wheelbuilder and have them tensioned properley, should cost about a fiver each. There's nothing to be gained by waiting till they get worse.0

Thanks , I was thinking that may be the case, I have an orange mountain bike a C16 R wtih Mavic Rims , its about 12 years old i think and i have been all over Spain with it , the wheels have never been touched since the day i got the bike and been well used , not one bump in them ! so I think i was expecting the same type of quality or similar, I live in Urmston in Manchester(uk) so if you know of any quality wheel builders this way then please let me know , off touring the lakes next month for a week and Scotland in September....Thanks again for posting back........0

I have the same WTB rims on my Ultra Galaxy. They seem pretty sound.
They did need a little tweak to tension them fully when I first got the bike - but since then I have toured with a heavy load and they stayed true. Pretty light for such a tough rim.0 -
THanks ! thats what I wanted to hear as I intend to be loaded up and doing plenty of miles, did you find the bike ok in general ?? did you go with wider tyres ?? I must say the frame seems rock solid.......0
