I've got SPDs on one bike and im thinking about getting egg beaters on another, how easy is it to change the cleats over? Can eggbeaters be used with recessed cleats?

Are eggbeaters worthwhile on a road bike (i dont want road pedals with road shoes as i use the shoes in the office when i get there)?

If you already use SPD's then an alternative approach would be to use something like the Shimano Touring RT30 SPD Road Shoe which will accept the recessed SPD cleat and then the Shimano Clipless Spd A520 Pedals.

i think you've misunderstood my question...

i already own 520s and i already own the shoes that i want and can wear in the office but i really like the idea of having egg beaters on my road bike and leaving my 520s on my mountain bike which wont really be getting much use. But i definitely need a second pair of pedals.

If i buy egg beaters can they have recessed cleats as already own these?

Yes, they will fit those shoes fine

cheers steve, have you used egg beaters? are they easy to use? as easy as SPDs?

Its all i use. great pedals. need a bit of grease pushed through them every now and then.
you might want a stiffer soled shoe if you are doing long miles on them, as some folk find the platform a bit small.

I wouldn't use anything else, on or off road

that sole isnt soft but as i said in a previous post i need to be able to wear the shoes around the office. Should i get the simple egg beaters or should i get a cage around them for more support?
