recently in transition from no load on forks to having weight on, the forks are pinging and bouncing around so on loose rocks the felling is awful. Any idea what this might be?

Guy in bike shop suggested adding another kind of preload spacer in addition to the standard one, sound right?

Also the rebound has increased over the last few rides whereas before it used to be quite slow, so combined with the above its bouncing around far too much to be taking on national DH courses!!! To adjust the internal rebound is it just a long allen key tool required???
Tips appreciated supposed to be on full DH day 2mz so need to get sorted asap :?

you say the rebound has increased ( the rebound damping has decreased) and there is a pinging! get then stripped and looked at. I would say something has come lose.
When was the last time they were serviced?

not serviced since new abiut a years riding.

Took top caps off and removed the spring preload spacers which didnt help much, but nothing seemed broken - are you thinking something has broken at the bottom in the dmaping cartridge section.

Been quoted 80 euros out here in morzine for a strip and service (no new parts) seem reasonable?

preload spacers? it does have a spring seat washer that is needed or the spring will be noisy.

80€ well they have you a bit over a barrel.
