ive been lookin at bike videos and seen the foam pits used looking more diy than proffessional even at proper parks so i thought to myself how hard can it be to make one. anyone made there own one and how did they go about it and where did they get the foam from?

the big problem with making a foam pit is the huge cost for the large amount of foam chunks you will need

to make the foam pit safe, it needs to be long (25 foot) , wide (12 foot) and deep (6-8 foot)..it you work out the cubic volume of the foam you would need to fill it, its a lot of foam!!

Travis Pastrana (FMX rider) foam pit reportedly cost Fox something like $300,000 and it burnt down when a bike with a hot exhaust got stuck in there and caused a fire

obivously a bike foam pit will be smaller but its still expensive

you can get a good chunk of your foam from and upholsrty or frabric shop. they normaly have a scip out back with a load of off cuts ect. but it can tak a while for them to go through that amount of off-cuts. also make the sides out of old pallets about two high from a lorry yard. <<a few cost saving tips
