Cleat Fitting Ireland (North or South)
Anyone know anyone that does cleat alignment in Northern Ireland?
I have a pair of speclialized bg mtb shoes, shimano pd-m324 pedals and shimano sh56 cleats. I rid a flat bar road bike, Spesh Sirrus Comp. My problem is that no matter what way I adjust the cleats on my shoes I cannot get them aligned so that I don't cause any pain in my left knee. 15 mile ride on commute last week left me unable to ride all week with severe knee pain. Went out on Thursday when knee felt alot better and rid 23 miles on the flat side of pedals in ordinary trainers and suffered no problems at all and that has been the case since I bought my bike serveral years ago. No probs riding with trainers only when clipped in.
Part of my problem I believe is that I must have limited flexibility in my left knee as I cannot click out on my left side by twisting out. I have multi-relase cleats so can release by twisting heal inwards (which unfortunately has the side effect of knocking the life out of my cadence sensor). My knee just doesn't seem to allow me to twist out that far (yes the pedals have been set to the lowest tension and I haven't any real problem in twisting out on the right however I tend to twist in as that's what works on the left so keep it consistent.
I tried my brothers road bike which has spd-sl's on and had the same problem - could twist out on the right but not the left although my prob here was that I couldn't get out at all as you can't release on them by twisting in so had to pull my foot out the shoe and then twist the shoe of with my hands.
Given the limited flexibility it would seem obvious that I need a very a precise fit however I can't seem to find anyone in Northern Ireland who offer cleat fitting. Anybody know of any? Failing Northern Ireland anywhere in Ireland would do - well East side anyway as I travel up and down to Waterford relatively often as my sister lives down there so could bring the bike down and get a fitting done on one of my journeys down.
I have seen a fitting a method online which involved using as straw to guide alignment but couldn't make head nor tail of it so if anyone has used and can explain it to the obviously thick  then please go ahead as I will try that too.
Thanks
