Creaking pedal??

I have just come back from a ride cross country and halfway through the ride I noticed the pedal was creaking. Each push on the right hand pedal produces a click-click sound (like the sound of pushing in the depression on a jar lid).

Is this something I can fix or does it sound like I need to replace something? (hopefully not the pedals as they are brand new DMR v12 Magnesium flats)

    I've had this before... all i needed to do was retighten the pedal, it had come ever-so-slightly loose

    Or take pedal(s) off, brush grease (copper if possible) on threads and then put them back the bike. Have V12s too and they did the same first ride. Had a similar thing happen with the crank arms on square taper spindle...
