    So am I

Just waiting for my local dealer to get the 21" shipped up from Yorkshire. I'm struggling to find a review on it other than the bit at the back of what MTB which gives it a 8/10 and says "needs to lose some wieght to show full potential".
Someone out there must own an Evo 8 or they'd stop making them.

    Well 8/10 ain't bad i guess :)

And yeah i cannot find a review of it anywhere, i rang Orange the other day but no one seemed to be about to pick up the phone. I wondered if they knew of a review anywhere.

As to weight, a little bit more than some other bikes isn't going to harm my riding ability.....it's my first MTB so i'll be s**t regardless

The Evo 8 is marketed as a light weight Hard tail cross country bike. It all depends on what sort of riding you'll be doing. If you wan't something to bash through down hills and scary rocks you might need to think of something else. At £900 there are a lot of other bikes out there that are better suited to general free ride stuff.
I'm only after an Orange because I grew up in a time when they were the dominant race manufacturer and the bike to have was a clockwork - and I'm doing a bit of XC & adventure racing so want something reasnably light and responsive.

i tried a evo8 at my local leisure lakes. having had a p7 in the past found the bike quiet good, i also tried the marin eldridge grade at the same time and far prefered the marin wich has a far better fork (fox) and also comes with spds. the price for the evo8 was £900. i got the marin for £1000 only a hundred pounds difference . you may be better waiting a short while as dealers drop prices to shift 07 bikes ready for 08.
