Right.

You really know you could of pissed alot less members off if you'd pulled your finger out and done some very basic coding.

1. The background, All we want is an off white or something not so damn bright.

To fix this - Go into the CSS stylesheet and change the part thats called bgcolor or maybe even background color from #FFFFFF to something more like #CCCCCC

2. Less forums

This doesnt actually have to be done just put it into more areas so members can minimize more of them. Say for instance MTB. MTB-Off topic chat (Sandbox, WMB arms etc) MTB Riding styles. Do the same for Road and maybe add a few more of these catogries in.

3. CAPS!!!!

Actually go into the coding and change everything from being in Caps. How would you like it if i was to walk in your office and while speaking i was to shout everything at the top of my voice at you. You wouldn't end of.

4. Image sigs (I think they've now been fixed but ya know they wern't to start with)

Im sure some basic CSS would have sorted all the problems out.

Such as:

}

.signature img
{
display: none;
}

Not sure thats exactly right but its the main base for it.

I really can't be bothered to help you anymore. Future should actually hire some people to work on the forums.

There PHPBB2 which is mainly PHP and CSS which is a doddle to sort.

I managed on another forum i won't state here to make all the members happy in minutes with all the problems with here.

Just thought i'd give you some tips /sigh.

Cheers.

    Are you being serious?

    The problem isn't a lack of ability to make the changes, it's a lack of permission. Unfortunately, this forum isn't a one-man production, it's the public face of a company, and as such must meet with the demands of whoever in the company is responsible for what people think of it. This is _never_ the developers.

    So really the 'public face of the company' dont want the forum to work properly, dont want it to be succesfull and dont want many people to use it?

    Think someone near the top of the ladder needs a kick up the arse in the direction of the front door.
  • And this is why forums shouldnt be run by big companies like Future.

    Little forums where all the members help out.

    Not naming any forums :wink: but it has worked out much better with just the members. They even want to contribute to a forum where they feel they can get there voice heard. More than here.

    Don't be stupid.
    The marketing department or whoever it was had already authorised the look and feel of the forum before it went live. The developers made it and, presumably, the marketing guys thought it was fine.
    They released it, and the vast majority of the users didn't like it. So the editorial team had to work out a look that the users and marketing dept. might like and take it to the developers. They'd then have to check how feasible it is (compatability etc.) and possibly make a mock up for when this idea is presented to marketing. Marketing will likely ask for changes, so the cycle is repeated until the new one is approved.

    At the end of the day, no-one above the level of the mags is likely to be overly concerned about imminent member movements. They know they'll make the numbers back up, and that's all that's important to them. The guys that work for/at the mags want to do this well, and are clearly trying to, but are constrained by upper management.

    They filtered arse, I cant believe that.

    Am I allowed to say bum?

    Good job they have their priorities right, I take it they dont have to speak to whos in charge about the filters then?

    I think it would be safe to presume not.
  • Don't be silly John. They have to go all the way to the MD before filtering anything!
  • They also changed UK MB's domain to UMB aswell. I think its time for the admin of that site to buy that one too!
