I have the Minoura W3000 from here:
http://www.wiggle.co.uk/ProductDetail.a ... 5360012020
I'm very impressed with it - I had a loan of one fromt he brother-in-law for a couple of months while he moved house and when he finally recalimed it I was lost without a workstand to be honest - they are so handy!
Anyway - when it came to look for one, first I was shocked at the price of them! - and then realised that the W3000 is about as good as it gets! - All the others I looked at int he £100ish price bracket were a lot more flimsy than the minoura - it's a pretty solid piece of kit to be honest, although the downside being it is pretty heavy! - at £89.99 it is very good value and I highly recommend it.
Only gripe would be that they now charge an extra £10 for the tool-tray - brother-in-law said it came as part of the package when he bought his.0 -
Argos flog one for £79.99. Light enough, compact, easy to erect and 'available'. I got one to take on holiday and found it very convenient and stable. I'm sure there are better but this was ok for a whole bike attack! No wobbly bits.106kg - kg361 255characters have read this so far...I believe0

Look at Edinburgh Bicycle Co-op own brand Revolution tune up workstand which retails for £69.95. I have the same model branded as BikeTool by Union bought as a present from a LBS.
As a workstand it is very easy to set up and stable in use. The clamp holds well on round and oval top tubes and can be easily adjusted to hold the seat pin if necessary.
I am very satisfied with it and consider it one of the best extras ever bought for me.

The Argos one is a Bike Tools stand, also sold branded as Union.
I have one, very solid but folds down easily and is fairly light - highly recommended. It is available at Cyclesense for £59.99 or Merlin for £59.95, with a toolset for an extra £30 (£40 off)0 -
I've used a few of the park home repair ones, and they've all fallen apart alarmingly quickly. I wouldn't go anywhere near them.
My Minoura RS5000 (~£140) is a fantastic stand, and I've heard good things about the other Minouras, too.0 -

Yep. Well spotted alfablue...good price drop too - got to be a bargain.
The tool kit advertised is the same as the one that was recently for sale in Lidl for £15. Bargains everywhere!
Talking of bargains, did anyone buy the Tour de France DVD from Lidl / and accompanying book? It was £4.99. Cycling Weekly has it advertised as a 'Gift Pack' for £12.99

I bought this:
Topeak Prepstand Max Workstand
... from Downland Cycles after a course I did there earlier this year, and I think it's wonderful. I've worked with almost a dozen bikes on it (I'm not in the trade, so I only work on friends' and family's bikes), and it's coped with all of them admirably. It's also incredibly light.
The only situation I'd say it's a little awkward with where there is a large or unwieldy moulding attached to the underside of the bottom bracket, but even then it's far from unusuable.
At only £72, it's gonna be well worth a look.[/url]Get a bicycle. You will not regret it, if you live."

I use this one from Park Tools:

My bike has a carbon frame and seatpost and I am lead to believe it's a bad idea to clamp it anywhere. These type of stands use the frame dropouts once you have removed one of the wheels. Apparently most of the mechanics on the Tour use this style of stand.http://www.fachwen.org

They are the most useful thing to ahve around and well worth the investment.
If at all possible get one with a quick clamp, my Ultimate one from Evans has a clamp that screws up and it can be a job to hold the bike up whist tightening up the clamp0 -

I have this workstand too and it's excellent - I can even use it to hold the bike touching the wheels on the floor which sometimes I need to.
I think I prefer this workstand to one of those with three legs realy.
