grippy shoes for grippy pedals

I'm going to get a pedal like the DMR V12 or Shimano MX30 or MG1. I haven't a clue about non-SPD flat grippy shoes to use with them. I'll use the shoes for mtb but would also like the shoes/pedals for use on a road bike for commuting, shopping and rides and walking around town. I'm guessing BMX-type shoes. I'd appreciate some advice and to hear what combinations people use. Thanks.

I have DMR V8's and would say you're better getting something with a decent sole - like hiking trainers or something. The pins on the V8's / 12's will tear most trainer soles to shreds....

5.10's are supposed to be awesome.

I'd be sceptical of most "tacky" soled riding shoes. I had a pair and didn't notice any "tacky" properties, however the 5.10's are made by a climbing company and get rave reviews from everyone.

If your wanting something more relaxed, Vans trainers with the waffle sole are good at gripping onto the spikes in DMR pedals and have the added benifit of being normal trainers so you don't look a wally when you're not on the trails

Where can you buy 5.10's from in the south-east? I'd rather go into a shop than order wrong-sized shoes over the net.

    Thanks :)

If your having trouble finding 510's locally & don't want to spend too much, I find that Karrimor hiking trainers are good/fairly cheap & can be got from Sports World. They grip well on my DMRv8's

Simply the grippiest shoe I've ever worn (when it's frosty the sole sticks to the floor!),although they will wear down quickly if you wear them off the bike.

Looking forward to getting another pair to use with my new V12s - the grip should be phenomenal 8)

Thanks for the replies. Anyone got anything on 661s like the Launch Taki or the Shimano MP56 both of which appear in Wiggle. But it looks like 5-10s are very good. Thanks again.
