How do they take these pics of the bikes standing up?
For example:

There's two common ways:
1) Lean it on a discreet stick.
2) Hold it up, let go and run away, take the photo just as it starts to fall.0 -
not sure, are the wheels supported in the ground somehow?0
-
It's leaning on a stick which you can see in this picture

It probably gets airbrushed out in some of the photos.Twitter: @RichN950 -
Eyes or a hawk there RichN. well done.0

Nice one, thanks. Having a 7 kilo bike helps I guess!0

Sometimes they use fine fishing line depending on the background and sunlight. Invisible against concrete and other lighter backgrounds.0
-
A lot of the photos are taken when people run away and the photo is taken before the bike falls.0

I walked away, made a meal, had a fag
Then took the photo

The last person who asked me that question ended up at the side of the road as you see!0

Sometimes they have a perspex glass that they rest a pedal on.
I think a lot of them are paintshopped now.
In the current climate of media honesty - I expect full disclosure of all this, and that they will come clean to say that they cant balance bikes really....0 -
Steve Behr uses a perspex rod.
But the standard trick is indeed to have an assistant let go of the bike, photographer hits the shutter, then assistant grabs the bike before it falls.
This is *much* easier than Photoshop, though I have Photoshopped the odd supporting finger out of bike shots over the years.John Stevenson0 -
Its normally something solid under the pedal on the side away from the camera. The "item" can then be removed very easily in Photoshop or other imaging software using the "stamp" tool... :-)**************************************************
