Hi

possibly a daft question, but is it possible to convert a double chainset to a single one. I have a chainset and it looks possible, I assumed I would ahve to change the bolts or at least remove the spacers.

Im looking to do a fixed project and single chainsets seem hard to come by

any ideas would be appreaciated

cheers

Steve

Becuase of Youth restrictions most of us just run single rings on the front. I just take off the big ring and eitherr

    A) Rummage around the shop for some smaller bolts ,ive used mech hanger ones in the past which are good if i remember correctly

    B) File down the existing bolts to make them fit

    Hope this helps

Yeah, just take a ring off. You can get single-ring chainring bolts, or just fit washers to your current ones.

Of course you can. I ride a Sugino 110/74 triple as a single and a double, you just have to get the right length chain ring bolts and adjust your BB cartridge to give you a good
    chain line
