I recently got a new frame and the front mech from my old frame didnt fit so i purchased a http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... delID=3408 thinking that this would avoid any compatability problems with the frame but i now have a much bigger list of problems. I am using it as top pull by the way. and have XT HT11 crank on 73mm bb.
Problems
1. when shifting from smallest to middle or outer chainring the mech body bends with the direction of shift and stays there. but does return when shifted back to innner ring
2. the cage does not line up with the the chainrings, the front points to the tip of the handle bar and the back points to the center of the rear hub.
3. i have a 36t middle ring that rubs on the inside of the cage when i change into the outer chainring.
4. the left hand bolt in the mech that joins it to the lower plat is not in the mech but came in a plastic bag with a small black alloy spacer an there is nothin for the bolt to thread into.

Please help as i have no expirienec with a mech like this and i am desperate to get out and ride.

have you read the instructions? that bolt is meant to bolt to the frame if the frame is designed for an E-type mech.

try to use as few spacers as possible and space them evenly on each side. as for the preload just do it as tight as you can the carnnks move just as well it just gives peace of mind that there will be no play.
is this how you have set up your XT cranks?

i have not found a nut to tighten the bolt to. the shell was not faced as the frame is partically new. and yes that is how i set up my XT cranks or atleast i did before i got this new mech.

Does the fact that i dont have the bit on my frame mean that i need a different mech? eg http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... delID=3407 would this be ok?
