identity theft... or so it feels like

I've just had my Camelbak stolen. Not only is it £71.99 worth of hydration pack, there's 2 debit cards, 1 cashcard, 2 credit cards, an ancient 1997 Pepsi Max BT phone card (from highschool, obviously out of date.... of sentimental value 8) ), a Fox Fluid jacket and Topeak multitool and a blockbuster membership card (which is the last of my worries) and a leather wallet bought for fathers day.

I've pretty much accepted the loss of the above, COULD DO WITH A PINT THOUGH, or a bourbon... but I'm actually more annoyed that there is some scally scumbag / dope -peddler hanging around with my gear trying to make profit.

Is there anyone that can share similar experiences to make me feel any better.

p.s all cards have been cancelled. any reply will be greatly appreciated, cheers guys

I've been lucky enough never to have had anything stolen. However, a friend of mine was out in Newcastle one night when he got seperated from his group of friends, he was wlking along when a guy walking towards him punched him in the face and told him to give him his wallet.
Naturally he hit the guy back and told him to F*ck off until the attacker pulled out a knife.
That made the situation a little different so he handed over his wallet. The guy took £30 cash but left all the cards in there and threw it on the floor infront of him.

One of my mates had that done to him whilst he was in university. Someone managed to use his faked card at some shops.
Bank said that apart from cancelling the card, there was nothing that could be done.
    He went mental
What neither of us could understand, was that they had the exact time and place of the illegal transaction, which meant all it would have taken would be to look at the shop's CCTV footage by the tills, at the time the transaction happened, and they could have figured out who it was.
    Arseholes.

I know mate thing that really stings is that i never got that money back from that transaction.

I was in Leeds & I took £20 out they took £250 in a town 36 miles away from where i was ......the thing is the CCTV on the cash machine shows me in Leeds but it comes down to the fact i have no proof what i took out.

    Seriously banks really dont care

That's what infuriates me, the fact that there IS proof!
On my statement (won't name the bank) it actually tells me which cash machine I''ve used to take money out, and how much. So, surely, they already know how much money you took out, as well as having you on CCTV.
They just don't want to know.
They make mountains of profit daily, but don't want to give out a measly £250 (in your particular case) to keep the customer happy.

Just formally dispute the payment. They have then to produce proof you authorised it

ie a signature or a typed in PIN, as the thief can not do either they cant prove you authorised it and the company that accepted the fraudulent transaction becomes liable as they didnt do the checks

My debit card was also cloned after using a wobbly online cycling shop. Just phoned the bank and disputed them transactions, They were pretty good, sent me a form to sign and refunded the money. mid you they did admit hundreds had been cloned after using the same site
