Kona Blast 2007

I am able to get a brand new 2007 Kona Blast delivered for £429. Which represents £120 off the RRP.
I saw that is had a reasonable review in the MBR dirty dozen test a few months ago, it has a relatively low spec component wise except for the frame and the fork. I wouldn't have even considered it for £550 but for £429 I am scratching my chin.
Anyone got one, or have any helpful thoughts? Never owned a Kona before, but I understand that many Kona owners become long term devotees?
Thanks in advance

Good basis for long term upgrading,as it has a nice frame but a Carrera Fury or CB Cape Wrath, offer better value.

What you mean the Halfords empire hasn't managed to ovecome Hadrian's wall, yet?
Have you tried a Kona Blast? If it feels right go for it.I rode the 2006 version and cheap fork and mechanical discs aside it was a nice ride.
What bikes are stocked locally?
If its your first mtb,its often best to go with what's stocked in your local bike shop,so you have support on hand,if anything goes wrong or the bike needs servcing.2006 Giant XTC

I've got one and made a few changes and think it's pretty good. Even with the discount you could still get better value for money spec wise but the frame does seem good. I reckon the frame could take a lot of abuse. I've already upgrades the brakes and will change the fork soon.
The geometry is very slack for a 100mm hardtail so it's ace for going down hill but the front end is very light on the climbs. I'm waiting to upgrade to a Marzohcci ETA fork which should sort all that out.0
