Clicky noise when pedaling

It seems that noises can be difficult to locate and fix, but as a new road cyclist I'm wondering if the noise that has been bugging me is actually normal.

I think it is coming from the rear derailleur. It's a quietish clicky whirring sound which happens when I pedal. Somebody suggested it could be cable stretch, so I mentioned this when taking the bike for it's first free service. I can feel that they have adjusted the gears, but the noise is still there. So, I'm starting to think that it may just be normal noise that I'll have to learn to accept, though I swear that it wasn't there for the first week that I owned the bike, which is why it's bugging me.

It's an 07 Allez, so mostly Sora, the RD is Tiagra. I've kept the bike clean and oiled. Anyone got any thoughts? Much appreciated.

Just got mine back after three attempts to cure it at LBS. Hopefully sorted now. Mechanic tried replacing cable, then did something with the bolt on the handlebars(?). Eventually took cranks off and gave it a greasing and a half which seems to have sorted it out. Might be worth asking them to do that.

Thanks for these thoughts. It often seems to be trial and error that solves these annoying noises...
