Porn- I used to find porn everytime I went out biking when I was 14ish.

A bird once flew between my brothers wheels and under his frame. I was following him. But it hit his pedal on the otherside. It flew off ok though.

    A car on fire.

  • strangest thing on a ride to ever happen to me is.....

riding some sweet singletrack through a forest behind a friend, going quite fast. suddenly out of nowhere a squirel jumps onto my handlebars, it see's me, panic's and jumps forward onto my friends rear tyre and is sharply flung over my friends head onto a branch and scarpers off, all the while screeching like a bastard!

    crazy little gits.

omg squirels are such crazy things!
I thaught i was the only one who'd had near-scrapes with them...

One ride i had a squirel jump clean through my frame as i was travelling at about 15mph (impressive as i've got a stumpjumper fsr and their isn't much room in them),
and then as i was riding home, speeding down a hill, lost in thaught; as i came to a sunny area of road i suddenly realised their was an adder (a snake) about 1metre infront of me... i was going at about 22mph, so i only swerved it by about 1 inch and i swore like mad! my heart-rate monitor recorded one of my fastest ever bpm's then...

Also i got hit in the face by a bat while coasting down a hill late in the evening once.

    damn nature!

    LOL

I had kamikaze squirrel a few years ago...Riding along past Kew one sunny morning, a squirrel ran down the wall and started bounding towards me "That's nice" I thought "I'm out for a morning bike ride, he's out for a run, both enjoying this great morn..." the mad little sod darted under my front wheel..bump bump...I skid to a halt.

By the time I get back the little critter has made it to the middle of the road. Still breathing, but just lying there looking back at me...Now I'm thinking what can I do? Do I run out in the middle of the road and get it back to the pavement...If I get it back what am I going to do? Shall I put it out of it's misery? before I could deiced, a black VW Golf came along and squished it...well that was that!

    Not technically road-kill...more road-stun :?

the weirdest thing that happened to me on a ride was........

i was at wentood DH and going though the middle section i see a 4x4 on the steep bit but it was burned out. whoever drove that must of been a brilliant driver.
another weird thing, again with a 4x4. i was about to start the wentwood DH track and a 4x4 came out of nowhere and rode over the first berm, killing it and then turned around and went back. weird or what?!

Last summer when it was hot my brother and myself found a snake was sun bathing in the middle of the track. My brother bunny hopped (bastard), I smacked the brakes on, pulled up just short and the snake slipped off into the undergrowth.

Lesson - don't panic, jump or you'll never hear the last of it

You didnt have to roll the jeep off the track though
whoever drove it down there must have been a bad driver seeing as he crashed couldnt get it out then burnt it :D
Its not strange to see 4x4's around wentwood but its funny as to see them get stuck when your there holding a spade in your hand, just casually carrying on worknig as they dig a deeper hole all the time.
  • Not exactly weird, but bloody scary!

When i was riding in quite deep forest at my local trails, on my own, there was a random flash, i thought i had imagined it, but then the biggest crack of thunder i have ever heard followed and it was right overhead

Ive never ridden my bike so fast in my life! Considering i ride downhill, thats a little worrying

Chasing a kangaroo. which when you consider I was in the Australian 'Alps' is unsurprising, but, well, you have to have been there, Oz is a weird place it keeps reminding you of home (UK that is) and I'd managed to convince myself at this particular point on this particular ride that I was in Scotland - funny how the mind plays tricks on you... and then suddenly, this bloody huge 'Roo jumps out from the gauze bushes and sort of boings away in front of me as I'm chasing it down the fire road... for a good few minutes... and then it shot back into the gauze again.

Moments like that don't happen often.
get on your bikes and ride!
  • ....loads of suicidal hares round Selkirk way for some reason  .Also saw an ironing board set up in a layby near Abbotsford t'other day..........WTF?!

Out riding on Monday, I was going across a crop field that has a single track straight across it. The crop is about 4.5 foot high and I was belting downhill at almost 20mph when a Pheasant walked out of the crop into the path, it saw me coming and started to run, but I was catching it quickly. It then took off and continued to fly in front of me for the best part of 30M before getting more height and flying off squarking.

...was riding in a local park one day and on a downhill section in a field I came across a family walking their dog. I thought i'd do the right thing and move off the path...
Next thing I know i was hurtling through the air and then landed on my arse with a strange tingling sensation through my body (don't get any ideas :D ).
I looked back and saw my bike 20ft up the hill tangled in some orange wire.

What i'd failed to see as the sun was facing me was the electric fence that had been put up to keep the local sheep at bay!
I'll never forget the look of the family as the went past.

I was out riding a local track one time and on my way out it was very quiet and peaceful, on my way back however all hell had broke loose.

Apparently someone had crashed their car into the river the previous day and the fire/police had only just discovered it that morning. The place was crawling with old bill and firetrucks with heavy duty rescue equipment.

They held me there for 20 mins asking if i'd witnessed anything but when it soon became apparent i hadnt they let me go, it was funny how it all seemed to happen all of a sudden.
  • Nothings happened to me yet, too weird in the local woods but their pretty spooky

But one time Me and my mate were returning from the skate park when we passed our jumps, and they had been destroyed, well the logs pulled out of them. We then looke dround and 5metres away from the jumps was what looked like a sheep pen, Weird or what?
  • Out riding my local trails, went flying round a corner to be confronted by a man playing the bagpipes in the middle of a trail. I managed to stop but my dog decided not to and tried to try to "kill" the bagpipes. Bagpipes are more expensive than you imagine.

Again on the Squirrel subject hit one some years ago as it tried to run over the trail. got to the bottom of the trail to find i had covered my mate, who was close behind, in the inner workings of the squirrel. MMMMM NICE
  • Once when cycling up a part of the landegla trail, i saw a red deer, my dad and m friend where below but none of them saw it, it was so beutifull too, it was eating some grass, then it disapeard back into the forest.

ok its not that good, but i reguarly ride along and get birds join me ridding at like 30mph along roads and tracks. When u have just the right speed, they stay right next to you for like a good 30 seconds. Really sureal to look to ur left and have a bird flying at head height.

Wheeching down a tricky singletrack section , a blackbird zooms out from the undergrowth and and gets up close and personal to the underside of my tyre. It wasn't killed outright, it sort of pathetically crawled back into the bushes. The ironic thing was my mate who was behind me is a vet, and didn't use his healing skills on the wee birdie. Don't these guy swear some kind of hippocratic oath, any beasties in trouble?
