KOM points in time trial

How do they award them? Is it the fastest rider to that point in the TT, or is it the rider fastest from bottom to top of the climb?

    I think its the former.

    KOM points go to the person first over (i.e. who took the least amount of time to get there), so logically the guy with the fastest split time at the KOM point would get the points.
    It's a little like wrestling a gorilla. You don't quit when you're tired. You quit when the gorilla is tired.

    Yeah this is not uncommon in GTs. They just give the points to whoever has the fastest split at the top of the climb.

    KOM hills in TTs have a start and finish line. The rider that clocks the fastest time from the bottom of the hill to the top gets the points, whatever his overall split may be when he gets to the top. Marcel Wust once nabbed the KOM jersey that way for a few days.
