Hi all

I have a GT aggressor 1 and its about 6 months old been out over the weekend and gears where slipping so gave it a full clean chain cassette but i took it all off the frame so i could make it nice and clean.

My problem is this i can't get the gears to set up correctly as they are the opposite to most gears i have tuned before.

1.)I have no cable and set the stopped screw to the largest cog on the cassette
2.) I then attach the cable and turn the adjuster screw to tighten the cable until it sits in the next cog.

The problem is that it never sits nice or correct i sure i'm being a complete n00b here and i do appolgise but i want me bike back on the road again so can any suggest what i do to get it correct. oh and yes i use a stand to adjust the mech :?

Ok if i get it right you have rapid rise.
I have no cable and set the stopped screw to the largest cog on the cassette

set stop screw so mech is correctly alingned. attach cable. streach cable and re-tigten. shift through the gears add tension if needed. set the other stop screw.

it is just the same but the other way round.
