Hello all,
I have been riding a Univega Flyte 830 for a number of years now but it is a little small for me and quite old.
Can anyone recommend a good £500 to £1000 bike from somewhere like Evans Cycles that would be suitable for off road riding mainly Red and Black difficulty routes.
I have spoken to a bike shop and they Suggested the Mongoose Teocali Comp 2007 thats currently £799.
Any one have any thoughts.
Much Appriciated

There is a world of difference between 500 and 1000 quid bikes, especially whre full suss is concerned. The Teocali is well specced, and the suspension is great, but its not light. You could also consider a hardcore hardtail type bike. In all cases, go an see the bike in the flesh.0

Well when i said between £500 and £1000 i guess i meant there must be a range of bikes in this price bracket.
I have a duel suspension at the moment and rode a Scott Reflex 45 Hardtail at the weekend and did not like it.
I would certainly prefer a Full Suspension to a Hard tail.
Although the guy in the shop told me the rear suspension on the Teocali is intelligent and locks when a rider is pedelling and only activates the suspension when not pedelling. Is this true?0 -

but thats just my opinion, why does it have to be from them?
It does not neccessarily have to be just thought they have a decent website of bikes but importantly i am a little skint at moment and am certainly looking for a 6 month interest free finance deal!!!0 -
Nope, the guy is talking out of his arse! The suspension is designed to minimise input into the system when pedalling, but it certainly doesnt lock, it remains fully active. I would be looking at the top end of your budget for full suss, as they tend to be compromised lower down.0

Also (but not from Evans) the GT Aggressor XCR at Halfords. They do finance schemes too.0 -
