Upgrading my gearset advice needed

How y'all doing today?
Due to age and wear the time has come to replace my crank (Shimano Hone), Deaore XT shifters, Deore 9 spd rear cassette and possibly my Deore XT rear mech too.
I have been thinking of trying Sram and using either X7 or X9 shifters, X9 rear mech and a Truvative Firex or Stylo crankset with BB.
With this is mind what rear cassette and chain would you recommend using with this set up?

I'd stick with Shimano for the cassette and SRAM for the chain. XT and PC971 make a good combo.0
