cassette removal problem

I tried to remove the cassette from my MTB yesterday but the tool i have that fits all my other shimano cassettes seems too big for this one.

What tool will i need to remove this..

    That's not a cassette, it's a freewheel.

    ahhh I am starting to see the light... I assume that the UG stands for uniglide while the other tool i use on my road bike is HG which is hyperglide...

    why do they make things so complicated.!!

    does look like and odd freewheel. iirc the lockring is only there for assembly at the factory. and replacement cogs are hard to get (if posible) there should be some internal splines.

    You don't need to undo the lockring to get the freewheel off.

    There are splines on the inside of the freewheel, that lock with the freewheel tool and you just turning the tool backwards to loosen and remove the freewheel.
    Less gears, more beers.

    I am changing the complete drive train so I'll just add a new set of wheels to the order! :cry:
    (damn going to have and excuse to get disc brakes now

    Of course i could just get a new hub but I really don't fancy removing and replacing all thise spokes
