Take a look at Red Panda's for instance,

takes up half the page

Not getting at Red Panda,, just the size of the avatar

you need some sort of photo editing program like irfanview, the gimp,( both free downloads) or photoshop etc

Hi Jibi, twas a very brief test (20secs no more)to see if the Bike Radar site would let me use that size of image. Interesting that it did as I feel it should lock to a suitable size limit and not let people go beyond it.

It was a shock when I saw it Panda, must have been in the 20 second test period.

Steve Austin has posted this URL.

    http://www.shrinkpictures.com/create-avatar/

does what it says on the box.

No worries Jibi :) still, it's one to be raised with the site developers.

Rest easy guys, I'm not going to test whether my signature will let me post a 2560 x 1600 wallpaper

    That's very much appreciated! :)

I guess we now have to find a way to limit avatar size.

Ah well, I hope this and the return of decent quoting begins to demonstrate that we are paying attention!

    Sorry it's taken so long.

no... well, yes, i'm simply showing how appalling this forum is. it truely sucks. they could have waited, and maybe tested it.

Yes, they should have waited, but there's no need to abuse the features.

Remember how long images were available on MBUK? A couple of hours if I recall, because kids like you abused the privilege.

i didn't abuse them on there, because the forum actually worked, it's my very childish way of making a point. they closed the forums too suddenly and opened the new one too soon.

So that means you have to try and ruin it for no good reason does it?

Yes, and we have admitted, fairly extensively, that we stuffed up. We're now working hard to improve things. Having to mess about blocking over-sized avatars just distracts our developers from improving the forum for everyone.

    No worries John :)

I'm wondering if it's worth turning off BBCode? ...just till vulnerability of the image size thing's sorted of course...

It's being sorted as we speak, and the ability to use avatars is being withdrawn from those who abuse it.

This is very odd, i activated the ability to use avatars earlier, in order to comply with the original designs for my testing, but the limit should be 80px x 80px however even though that is set it doesn't seem to be enforcing it. I will look into this and see what wonders I can perform.

That's good, glad the issue's being worked on by Gavin during the day, I could of seen it being a bit of a field day for the 'naughty types' later on.

    This has now been sorted.

    Maximum 80x80 pixels :)
