Please help.
I am soon to be moving to the countryside and i want a new bike for around £800-1000. I want a decent quality full sus but dont mind buying second hand. I will be riding some XC but also a bit of freeride. I was considering a second hand Scott Ransom. Does anyone have any ideas.
Thanks guys.

I'd go for something with a bit less travel than the Ransom. How about a Santa Cruz Heckler or perhaps an older model Specialized Enduro.
It does depend on what your definition of FR is. if you want to do big drops, north shore and DH runs then you will always struggle to find a bike strong enough to do that and have fun riding XC.0 -
A Ransom for that money might be quite hard to find. Or it will have be in pretty bad state.
You should be able to get hold of some sort of Kona Dawg for that money. The 2005 Dawg Deluxe or 2006 Dawg Primo would both serve you well. They're essentially the same bike, have 5" of Fox Float powered travel, Hayes brakes and other good quality kit.
Good, tough bikes with excellent handlng and none of the crap you don't really need.0 -
ive just bought an 06 enduro. fantastic bike, light enough and comfortable enough for xc, but bloody strong and confidence inspiring for when you want to throw it off of something. you might want to check ebvay; there are none brand new left, i got the last one :P
based on that i'd o for the enduro, comfy and amazing to ride. specialized really got it right when they made that bijke.I said hit the brakes not the tree!!
