Listening to Music - good idea and what to listen to ?

    my new bike is the first I've had with disc brakes, I like them fine

    clearly better in the wet

    and I use my hearing a lot, in addition to the other senses, you can tell a great deal from the noise an approaching car makes

    I finally bought Cyclecraft so I'm now a cycling fascist, he's very clear about listening to music while commuting, it's a no brainer surely

    do it by all means but don't pretend it doesn't lessen your total awareness, never mind concentration

    door zone, inevitable sometimes, damn near miss two days ago, came round a tight left hand bend with a car alongside, parked car far too close to the bend who flung his door open as I passed (going quick - bottom of a hill) must have missed my knee by very little indeed

    shit place to have parked and reckless door opening, not sure what I could have done other than ride slow in case someone had parked badly on the far side of the bend, primary wasn't really an option at the time, might try today and see
