Race Thread: Stage 3, Waregem - Compiegne
...MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS...
It's likely to be another race for the sprinters but as the question says, are we going to have yet another crash in the final kms??
Can Millar have a dig on the only category climb of the day to retain his polka dot jersey?

If there is a crash you can be sure Cav will go over0

You're probably right the guy has had no luck at all whatsoever. Third time lucky maybe?0
-
Phill Liggett said last night, on the highlights show, that if you want to stay out of trouble and miss the crashes , you should ride in the top 25.
Try telling that to Abjoujaparov.
Wow was it really 19910 -
Cyclingnews is reporting v. slow speeds for the first couple of hours. Is this indicative of a cleaner peloton, or just tactics?0

Or he has slowed down now the drug authorities are on his case.
(We need a cynical smiley dont we!)
EDIT
This was supposed to be a post in the Valverde thread as opposed to a slight on Cav's ability to say no to the Soigneurs syringe... just wanted to make that clear[/i]0 -

Yesterday was unlucky as the guy on the left pulled out of his pedal and jumped to the right taking a T-Mobile rider out causing the crash. It had nothing to do with position as it can happen to anyone at any time.0 -
I am off for a cuppa in the garden, this is proper dull :x0

This must be the slowest stage in YEARS.0

At last something is happening... Auge is after Millar's spotty top.0

Think you might be right today.
No-one in the pack is interested.
Auge for the win, Cav to win the bunch gallop.0 -
Am I ever glad I didn't take a day off for this stage! a glimpse every 15 minutes is already boring.0

I did a spoiler thread yesterday so I will start one today... I agree though it is bad form to spoil the highlights.0

You dont need to, I put at the front of this page that it would contain spoilers, being a race thread people watching it live will innevitably comment.
Anyway, superb finish, what a ride by him to keep his yellow and take the stage. I dont understand the breakaway though, the guy best suited to get yellow should have kept the hammer down instead of sitting up looking at each other on who was going to take on the sprint and getting caught.
The peloton seemed to momentairly slow off once they thought they had the guys caught and it allowed Cancellera to go for it... What a finish.0 -

Bet the sprinters were thinking "F*cking w*nker tester" just the same as when Hutchinson turns up for a 3rd cat road race in the UK0 -
haha true... Though the guys up front all day must have taken it hard losing it in the last few hundred yards but I just cant understand why the leader on the road (forget which one it was), didn't just keep the foot down in that last kilometer even if it cost him the win to one of the other three guys.0
