Chain has broken on hubbies Saracen mountain bike.
Neither of us are particularly mechanically minded so ...
a) Can you just buy a chain based on the number of rear gears (think it's 7 speed)
b) do we need to buy a chain tool??
c) how easy is it to refit a chain??
Ta muchly,
Lou

correct. the chain is dependant on the number of cogs at the rear.
yes a chain tool will be needed to shorten the chain when fitting.
and also posibly for joining the chain (some have a "powerlink")
the park tools webby has some great how toos. linky below."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

If you pop along to your local bike shop I'm sure they would be happy to guide you through the process of splitting and refitting chains.0
