  • I bought one for Mrs BTP. Even though she wasn't used to riding bikes fully loaded, she was impressed with the bike's stability whilst carrying four panniers of camping gear.

I'm thinking of buying one to replace my now sadly defunct Thorn Expedition - a 700c-wheeled tourer that SJS made in the 1990s.

The TIG welding is very neat and the bike is well made. I think also that Thorn offer better sizing options than the Hewitt.

Have a look at the Brevet. Same strong wheel but frame a tad quicker and you can specify a rack for your panniers.

I've had one for more than three years/+6000 km. Solid handling over any kind of stuff, both loaded or unloaded. With a light or no load it's still impressive. And I think it's not that much heavier than the Brevet.
  • great stuff folks keep it going ,i looked at the brevet also ,cant spot the difference, love to get my hands on either the nomad or xtc ,,but holidays are comming up, and all money spoken for,, you know the story.what are the main differences in these frames ,do they justify the price
